Islamabad : The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has assured teachers of the notification of the posting of the Federal Directorate of Education director general.

The assurance comes to ensure the long-awaited promotion of the teachers of Islamabad's government schools and colleges.

The meeting of the Departmental Selection Board was put off four times in the last two months due to the unavailability of the FDE director general and thus, delaying the promotion of teachers.

Islamabad College for Boys G-6/3 Principal Dr Ali Ahmad Kharal has been holding the additional charge of the office of the FDE director general for around four months.

After the expiry of written orders for the three-month term in office, he was asked by the ministry 'verbally' to stay put until further orders prompting the Establishment Division to point out that the DPB can't meet until the posting of the FDE chief, a board member, was notified.

Representatives of the Federal Government College Teachers Association met Joint Secretary of the education ministry Syed Umair Javed and apprised him of the unrest prevailing among the teaching community over the promotion 'denial'.

The joint secretary told visitors that as the FDE DG was a compulsory member of the DPB, the filling of the post would be ensured before the board meeting was convened for the promotion of teachers.

The FGCTA leaders told the joint secretary that new Performance Evaluation Reports of the teachers would be needed if the board meeting was held after March 31.

They added that if that happened, then all promotion cases would require to be made afresh due to change in the quantification.

The FGCTA leaders said the preparation of new promotion cases would take much time and thus, further delaying due promotions. The joint secretary assured visitors that he would discuss the issue with the secretary for necessary action.
