ISLAMABAD: The House Business Committee of the National Assembly has set June 24 deadline for the passage of the finance bill for the fiscal year 2015-16 by the low House of Parliament.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq chaired a meeting of the House Business Advisory Committee in the Parliament House here Monday. After discussion and taking into account suggestions by representatives of the political parties in the National Assembly, it was decided that general discussion on the budget will continue till June 19, 2015 and finance minister Ishaq Dar will wind up the general discussion on Budget 2015-2016 followed by discussion on charged expenditure.
It was decided that the discussion and voting on cut motions and demand for grants would be taken up on 22nd and 23rd June, 2015. It was further decided that the consideration and passage of Finance Bill, 2015 and discussion on supplementary demands for grants and appropriation 2014-2015 in respect of charged and voted expenditure and laying of schedule of authorised expenditure 2015-2016 would take place on 24th and 25th June, 2015, respectively.
It was also agreed that the sittings of the National Assembly will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Mondays and from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm with a break of half an hour for Zuhr prayers on rest of the days. The committee was informed that the Question Hour and other non-legislative business will remain suspended during the budget session.
The meeting was attended by Rana Tanveer Hussain, minister for defence production, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, minister of state for parliamentary affairs/chief whip of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), MNAs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Ms. Shaista Pervez, Syed Naveed Qamar , Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Dr. Arif Alvi, Mr. Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Sheikh Salahuddin and Dr. Shireen Mehrunnisa Mazari.
