Meeting reviews Punjab Games arrangements

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti, Secretary Sports Punjab Nadeem Mehboob and Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar reviewed the arrangements of 72nd edition of Punjab Games 2019 during a high profile meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Secretary General Punjab Olympic Association Idris Haider Kh, Additional Secretary Sports Raja Jahangir Anwar, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti and other top officials were also present during the meeting. The meeting, which was chaired by Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti, also reviewed the performance of administrative committees formed for the Punjab Games.

DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar briefed the meeting regarding arrangements of the games being organized by SBP with the collaboration of Punjab Olympic Association at Nishtar Park Sports Complex from April 3 to 6, 2019.

During briefing, DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said the final touches are being given to Punjab Games arrangements. “The administrative committees have already been formed for the smooth organization of Punjab Games. These committees are doing their work dedicatedly to make this grand event a success”.

Nadeem Sarwar further said that the preparations are also under way for the grand opening ceremony of the Punjab Games. “The accommodation and other arrangements are also being made for the players belonging to far-flung areas of the province”.

Addressing the meeting, Punjab Sports Minister informed that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will inaugurate the upcoming Punjab Games at colourful opening ceremony. “The games culture in the province is being promoted through sincere efforts. The revival of Punjab Games is definitely an incredible development in the history of province. These games were ignored during the previous eras. Now it’s a big honour for our govt to revive the Punjab Games after eight years”.

Secretary Sports Punjab Nadeem Mehboob, on this occasion said that Punjab Games 2019 are a suitable platform for the youth of the province. “Talented male and female players must avail this opportunity and take part in 72nd Punjab Games with full fervor”.
