Rawalpindi : The Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Ali Randhawa has called an emergency meeting of price magistrates to fix the rates of all eatables. The Deputy Commissioner (DC), Rawalpindi will issue a notification of prices of all eatables particularly ‘vegetables’ today (Sunday). The Assistant Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Maleeha Jamal told ‘The News’ that they have directed all 37 special price magistrates to start crackdown against profiteers and perform their duties round the clock, she said. She also said that we have fixed prices of necessary eatables particularly vegetables and would issue a notification of price fixation on Sunday.

For over a month, it has become difficult for a common man even to buy vegetables due to prices hike, as the prices of all eatables have gone up. ‘The News’ has conducted a survey that one kilogram bitter gourd (Karela) is being sold at Rs250, ladyfinger at Rs150, ‘Arvi’ at Rs80, ‘Tenda’ at Rs100, ‘Tori’ at Rs110, tomato at Rs140, ginger at Rs240, garlic at Rs240, ‘Mongra’ at Rs100, carrot at Rs40, pea at Rs80 and capsicum at Rs160 in the vegetable market.
