PPP creating districts on an ethnic basis, claims Siddiqui

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has alleged that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had failed to get the mandate of urban areas and was creating districts on an ethnic basis in the Sindh province.

During a press conference here on Friday, he reiterated his party’s demand of division of Sindh on an administrative level. He said that if the provincial government could form districts, then the federal government had the right to create a new province.

The MQM only wanted to create a province on an administrative level, not on an ethnic basis, Siddiqui said, adding that terrorists’ main target was the party’s leadership and workers. He said they had asked the provincial governments to provide security to his party leaders who were facing security threats, but no one was “listening to us”.

Siddiqui appreciated the role of the Sindh Rangers to maintain law and order in Karachi. Also speaking on the occasion, Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar said that the MQM-P would not allow anyone to play with the city.

The MQM-P leaders also condemned the terrorist attacks on two mosques in New Zealand’s city Christchurch, in which innocent worshippers were martyred. They said that the menace of terrorism had crossed continents and was posing far more threats to world peace than ever before.
