Speeches, skit highlight issues faced by women police

Islamabad : Impressive parade by women police from different departments, inspiring videos and speeches and thought provoking skit highlighting issues faced by women police - all made part of the event organised at Police headquarters to commemorate International Women’s Day on Friday.

The event started with the parade of woman police and girls guides. Women were seen parading, riding motorcycles, driving police vehicles and riding. Smartly dressed woman commandos and women anti-riot section received special appreciation.

The event, organized in collaboration with Oxfam Pakistan, was attended by diplomats, high dignitaries, celebrities and woman folk from all spheres of society. Prominent among them were Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Senator Dr. Fehmida Mirza and Advisor to the Prime Minister Zulfi Bukhari, Federal Ombudsman Kashmala Tariq and Oxfam Pakistan Country Director Muhammad Qazilbash. Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi was the chief guest.

The event was aimed at paying tribute to the women Police performing outstanding duties in operations, security, logistics, traffic, as a counter terrorism force. “It’s time to realize impact and significance of woman,” said Minister of State Shehryar Afridi while highlighting the role and contributions of women in the society.

IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, while highlighting the importance of woman quoted distinguished ladies and celebrities including Madam Benazir Bhutto, Princess Diana, Mother Teresa, Florence Nightingale, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Kashmala Tariq, SP Sumera, ASP Ayesha, ASI Nazia Rafique etc. He also touched upon the women who played crucial role in development of Islamic society such as Hazrat Bibi Amina (R.A), Hazrat Bibi Fatima (R.A), Hazrat Khadija (R.A), Hazrat Ayesha (R.A).

Senator Dr. Fehmida Mirza talked about the history of Woman Parliamentary Caucus and the shared her views on issues linked to women empowerment.
