ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said Prime Minister Imran Khan had again offered dialogue to India and there was a trend of ‘no to war’ on social media in India.

Speaking here at an International Conference on Media and Conflict, the minister, however, asserted that none could be allowed to endanger regional peace for political gains, making an indirect reference to elections in India.

Fawad said Pakistan supported giving peace a chance, as no one of them was desirous of war while Prime Minister Imran Khan had also said in his address to the nation that initiating war was easy but it would go beyond calculations.

The minister pointed out sane voices were coming from India that there should be no war to gain political objectives. He said today ‘saynotowar’ had become top trend on social media in India. He expressed the hope that peace would prevail, which would be in the best interest of both the countries and the world as well.

Fawad said no religion teaches violence and added there is no room for extremism in Islam. He said Pakistan had successfully tackled irregular conflicts under the tag of terrorism by rendering over 70,000 lives, which indicated the society's strong resilience, as it had strong social values. He said Pakistan has defeated terrorism and the role of the security forces had been excellent, as they rendered numerous sacrifices, and now the country would be successful in tackling the issue of extremism. In this connection, he noted that the role and teachings of saints had been very important with regard to peace. The minister spoke highly for the tribal people for rising against the menace of terrorism.
