A 10-member delegation of scholars led by Ye Hailin, Editorial Director South Asian Studies of China Academy of Social Sciences, met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Saturday.
During the meeting, Pak-China relations, Pak-China economic corridor projects and regional situation were discussed. According to a handout issued here Saturday, talking to the delegation, Shahbaz said Pak-China friendship has come up at every hour of trial. He said China is a very trustworthy friend of Pakistan and the historic economic package of 46 billion dollars announced by Chinese president is a great gift for the people of Pakistan. He said Pak-China economic corridor project is a favour of visionary leadership of China for Pakistan. He said a huge amount of 33 billion dollars out of 46 billion dollars of economic package has been allocated only for energy projects. Shahbaz said Pak-China economic corridor project is strengthening ties of both the countries. He said 50 megawatt solar project will be completed by August 2015 under Pak-China economic corridor projects while work is continuing on 900 megawatt solar project under this framework which will complete next month. Mentioning the war against terrorism, the chief minister said Pakistan is facing challenge of terrorism and the entire nation is united while political and military leadership is on one page.
