Police on Saturday claimed to have solved a blind murder case of a transporter, who was found dead in Balochistan last month, by arresting his second wife and two other suspects.

The victim was reportedly kidnapped from DHA in Karachi on January 24 and his body was found a couple of days later in the Hub Chowki area of Balochistan.

His family had earlier claimed that Abdur Rahim Mengal, 40, was abducted by unidentified persons from the upmarket DHA neighbourhood. FIR No. 67/19 was registered under Section 365, read with Section 34, at the Darakhshan police station on behalf of the victim’s nephew, Ali Hassan, against unidentified persons.

Police said security officials in the Lasbela area of Balochistan found the victim’s burnt body. On receiving the information, the police investigators and the victim’s family reached Lasbela and brought the body back to Karachi after identifying it.

His family had earlier claimed that he was taken by force by unidentified persons after he left his house in Saba Avenue, DHA Phase-V, for a hotel at Sea View.

They said that shortly after his kidnapping, his mobile phone had been switched off, adding that they did not receive any ransom call by the kidnappers. They claimed that they did not have enmity with anyone. The burnt body was found in the back seat of the victim’s car.

The District South police said that the investigators conducted geo-fencing of the place from where he went missing as well as of the place where his body was found.

The police said that they found some suspicious numbers through geo-fencing of the crime scenes, adding that the suspicious numbers belonged to the victim’s second wife, namely Abida Rahim, and two more people, who were identified as Tariq and Abdul Wahid.

According to the investigators, the victim’s second wife revealed during the initial interrogation that Tariq, Wahid and another hitherto unidentified person came to her residence on January 24 and killed her husband, and that it was a planned murder, as she was unhappy with her husband and was involved with Tariq.

Police said that after the technical work, they traced the suspects Tariq and Wahid in Khuzdar, Baluchistan, and kept an eye on their movements before arresting them.
