Women rights activist and Provincial Manager of Aurat Foundation Mumtaz Mughal appreciated the chief minister Punjab, social welfare, law, women development department and women parliamentarians’ efforts for approving the Punjab Protection of Women against Violence 2015 bill.
The bill will encompass all the violence against women crimes including abetment of an offence, domestic abuse, emotional, psychological and verbal abuse, economic abuse, stalking, cyber-crime and all others laid out in other acts and laws. The bill states that Violence against Women Centre’s (VAWC) and shelters homes will be established in all the Punjab’s districts in a phased approach. She added that the aggrieved or any person authorised by the aggrieved including Women Protection Officer could submit a complaint to the court for obtaining protection order, residence order or monetary order.
