Islamabad: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Muzzamil Hussain Sabri has called upon Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to fix markets closure timings in the federal capital in consultation with business community. He was addressing a gathering of traders after inaugurating Gulberg Green City in Islamabad.
He said huge traffic rush was witnessed daily on Islamabad Expressway due to which truckers and other commuters were facing lots of problems and called upon the CDA to widen the Expressway into a 10 lane road from Zero Point Islamabad up to Rawat with signal free facility. He said a separate bypass should be developed from Pirwadhai to Rawat for trucks and 20 wheelers in order to avoid rush on Islamabad Expressway.
He said the traders of Islamabad had suffered big losses due to political sit-ins and Metro Bus project, due to which many of them were facing difficulties in meeting daily expenditures. Especially the traders of Blue Area and Peshawar Morr were the worst sufferers. He said Punjab government has waived off property tax of Murree Road traders and he called upon the federal government to extend similar tax concessions to traders of Islamabad who were affected by the Metro Bus Project. He also appealed to the Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar to issue instructions for acceptance of income tax returns of Islamabad traders as filed by them.
ICCI Senior Vice President Muhammad Shakeel Munir, former senior vice president Khalid Chaudhry, Traders Welfare Association PWD President Ch. Riasat, TWA Melody Market Islamabad President Syed Adil Anis, Haji Salahuddin Awan, Musharaf Janjua, Arshad Haroon Bangash, Fiaz Hussain Bhatti and Abdul Mubeen also addressed the meeting.
