Roots Millennium Schools Digital Literacy Department organised Millennium Enhanced Learning & Teaching-MELT Digital Literacy Expo 2015, here at RCI Millennium Campus I-9/3, says a press release.
The event was structured to increase focus on developing skills that enable all the learners to embed technology and ICT tools in the curriculum. Its prime objective was to ensure that students are provided with excellent educational platforms that bring innovation in creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication thus developing them into learned “digital citizens”.
The ‘MELT Digital Literacy Expo 2015’ was designed for the teachers and students to showcase their projects. It was a great learning experience where students along with their teachers reflected their learning, and expedited the opportunity to share their experiences of using different ICT tools that cater to the core skills of 21st century i.e. Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking and Technology Literacy & Creativity.
At the heart of education in the 21st century, Information Technology has a very vital skill set in the information age. Latest ICT tools integrate virtual teaching and learning, thus promoting ICT as a common denominator to bridge digital divide.
Students from RMS Islamabad and nationwide campuses participated in the MELT Digital Literacy Expo 2015 to showcase their talent in the field of ICT & Digital Literacy. In this Expo students’ projects were judged by a panel of experienced and high profile professionals from Promethean& Microsoft Pakistan.
Chief guest and adjudicator of the ceremony was Tahir Masood - Developer Experience and Manager Evangelism Group, Microsoft Pakistan. The jury comprised of Jibran Jamshed - Enterprise Technology Strategist, Microsoft Pakistan, Ms. Sana Wajid - Training Manager Promethean Pakistan and Rizwan Haider Baloch - country head, Promethean Pakistan.
Projects were showcased in two categories - Junior Tier and Senior Tier. Students from RMS Campuses in Abbottabad (Pine Campus) and Islamabad (Trafalgar Campus) secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in Tier 1 respectively. Students from RMS Campuses in Mirpur (Hill View Campus) and Islamabad (Oxbridge Campus & Capital Campus) won 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The winners were awarded with cash prizes along with certificates and shields.
To encourage this initiative of RMS, Promethean has announced to sponsor a training in Dubai worth $1250 per person for the teachers of first position holders (Junior and Senior Tier), along with the Senior Manager Digital Literacy, Tayyaba Noureen.
RMS CEO Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq TI made students well aware of the “Digital Literacy Era”, where communication is handled online through emails, messages, chats and through other applications.
