Hospital employee attempts self-immolation

HAFIZABAD: A forcibly-retired employee of the DHQ Hospital attempted self-immolation outside the Health EDO office here on Saturday.
Malik Muhammad Farooq, the hospital employee, had allegedly sold defective blood to a child who died during its transfusion some months ago. After the child’s death, Malik Muhammad Farooq was retired forcibly. On the day of the incident, Malik Farooq came in front of the EDO office and attempted self-immolation. As a result, he received serious burns. He was shifted to the DHQ Hospital but the doctors referred him to a Lahore hospital due to his critical condition.
Meanwhile, relatives of Malik Muhammad Farooq staged a demonstration against the doctors for allegedly threatening them. On information, police reached the spot and dispersed the protesters. On the other hand, the doctors observed strike against the misbehaviour of the protesters for two hours.
