LAHORE: The Director FIA Punjab, Lahore Zone, has suspended around seven FIA officials, including four Inspectors, and issued them show-cause notices on the charges of financial corruption, misuse of authority, and high-handedness.
FIA Punjab Dr Usman Anwar suspended the accused officials on April 21st and issued them show-cause notices on April 24, 2015. The suspended officials were asked to respond to the show-cause within 15 days.
Among the suspended officials included Inspector Shahid Pervaiz, Inspector Rana Shahid Habib, Inspector Pir Mashhood Jamil, Inspector Amina Zareen, after suspension now repatriated back to her parent department i.e Motorways Police, Sub-Inspector Naeem Sajid, Sub-Inspector Ghulam Abbas, ASI Akbar, Constable Munir Ahmed, and Constable Farhat Abbas.
It is pertinent to mention here that the decision of suspension of FIA officials came at a time when the Federal Interior Minister in his recently held meeting with the FIA officers, including DG FIA and all the directors in Islamabad, had directed the FIA authorities to take stern actions against the corrupt officials to rid the federal agency of corrupt employees and corrupt practices.
An FIA official, seeking anonymity, told The News that it was also decided in the meeting with the minister that any FIA officer/official who was part of a previous list containing names of more than 60 alleged corrupt FIA officials, would not be posted to the Immigration and Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) Departments throughout the country anymore.
When contacted on Saturday, Dr Usman confirmed that he had suspended the FIA officials on the charges of corruption and misuse of authority. He said strict actions would be taken against all such employees in the future as well. He added that if any official who would bring bad name to the country would be dealt with iron hands.
To another question that why such actions were being taken only against low-rank FIA officials, Usman claimed that anyone found involved in such practices would be dealt in the same way.
Inspector suspended: SSP Investigations Rana Ayyaz Salim suspended Incharge Investigations Lower Mall Inspector Muhammad Shafqat on the charges of faulty investigation and misbehaviour to a complainant of a rape-case on Saturday and order SP Investigations City to initiate a departmental inquiry.
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP said that a strict action would be taken against the sluggish and incompetent police officials who rather than helping the citizens adding their problem.
Providing justice to the common man and solving his problems was the priority of the police, he concluded.
