FAISALABAD: The present government is taking several initiatives to raise the living standard of a common man, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan.
Talking to participants of the Model United Nations (MUN) and Parliamentary Contest held under the ongoing Lyallpur Arts and Literature Festival in the university here, he said that ever-growing population, diminishing resources, unemployment, health, energy, inflation, food insecurity, climate changes and law and order were the main issues of the people. He said that the youth needed to prepare themselves to come with the viable solutions based on their knowledge so that the problems could be solved.
Meanwhile, addressing an opening session of a drama competition, actress, film director and producer Samina Peerzada said: “Our dramas are not only popular in the country but also finding equal place in India.” She praised the UAF for proving its mettle not only in academia but also in the extracurricular activities.
Earlier, a folk dance contest was held in which students of the Islamia University Bahawalpur clinched the first position. In folk song competition, Muhammad Zeeshan of the Islamia University Bahawalpur got the first position while Nazish Batool of the University of Sargodha Faisalabad campus got the second position and Nisar Haider of the University of Gujrat stood third.
