Water shortage a blessing for private water tanker mafia
Rawalpindi : Acute water shortage in cantonment areas has become blessing for private water tanker suppliers in the month of Ramazan, as they have started charging Rs1200 to Rs1500 for a tanker. Unfortunately there is no authority to control prices of water tankers.
Residents of Rawalpindi city have to buy high price private water tankers, as they have no other option left because CCB and RCB failed to supply them water. “The authorities concerned should control the price of water tanker,” residents urged.
Resident of Rawalpindi city including Adiala Road, Dheri Hassanabad, Lalkurti, Chakri Road, Afshan Colony, Peoples Colony, Misrial Road, Dhoke Syedan, Bakra Mandi and many other areas are facing acute water shortage and buying high priced water tankers.
While talking to ‘The News’ Hammad Khan, a resident of Adiala Road said that because of shortage of water in Rawalpindi city private water tanker mafia is charging high prices of water tankers which is from Rs1200 to Rs1500. Not only this, one has to wait for at least one day to get private water tanker.
He urged the authorities concerned to take action and control the price of private water tankers, as they are charging huge amount for a single water tanker.
Asif Raza, a resident of Dhoke Syedan has said that despite getting huge amount private water tanker suppliers not even providing water on time. Now it has become very difficult to buy private water tanker as well, he denounced.
He said authorities concerned should take notice of water shortage and solve this issue on urgent basis to facilitate the residents during Ramazan.
The residents have said that there is no regular water supply for their areas and the department of water supply was playing a role of silent spectator. They said the authorities have failed to ensure regular supply in accordance with the demand of water, thus the residents are facing hardships to get clean water for drinking and other domestic chores.
