ACE registers cases against govt officials

GUJRANWALA: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Wednesday registered cases against government officers, including a Town Officer and an Assistant Director (colleges) on charges of corruption and misuse of authority.

In a press briefing, ACE Regional Director Fareed Ahmed said Yousaf Elahi advocate had submitted an application alleging contractor Mansab Tarrar with the connivance of Town Officer Municipal Committee Hafizabad Sohail Anwar Bajwa, ATO Sarfraz Ahmed, Sub-Engineer Waseem Ahmed used substandard material in the construction of Railway Road, Hafizabad. Meanwhile, former DEO (colleges) Raja Zulifqar alleged Muhammad Arshad Butt, Assistant Director (colleges) Gujrat prepared his bogus joining report for assuming the charge of AD colleges Sialkot while after reliving the charge of Gujrat he also drew his three-month salary from the Gujrat office fraudulently. An ACE Naib Qasid of Gujranwala office alleged that ACE driver Riasat Ali had received Rs 5,000 from him to obtain his medical fitness report from DHQ hospital Gujranwala. During investigations the allegations proved correct and in the light of enquiry officers the cases are registered against the accused.
