67 nabbed in Kohat search and strike operation
KOHAT: On the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat, the police here on Monday conducted search and strike operation in various areas and arrested 67 suspects.
Acting on a tip-off, the DPO formed a team of police and Elite Force commandoes led by Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Headquarters Sanobar Khan to conduct the operation. The raiding team was equipped with sophisticated fire arms and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).
The personnel of bomb disposal unit and lady constables and intelligence officers participated in the operation. The operation lasted for six hours in which sniffer dogs were also used.
The police team carried out raids in Mari, Kachai and Matta Khan areas bordering Orakzai Agency.
The team also conducted house-to-house search and apprehended 67 suspects. It recovered four Kalashnikov rifles, three rifles, two repeaters, two shot guns, 13 pistols and thousands of cartridges.
The police also raided Sherkot and Charkot areas and arrested two suspects named Naseem Gul and Shabab Hussain and explosives. Security was on high alert in the surrounding areas and the entry and exit points where the operation was being conducted.
Meanwhile, four kilograms of hashish were seized in the limits of Police Station Mohammad Riaz Shaheed from one Qasim Khan. The contraband was being transported in a rickshaw. Cases were registered and investigation started.
