Kashmir artery of Pakistan, remind speakers at seminar

ISLAMABAD: The speakers of the seminar, held in Islamic International University Faisal Mosque here, reminded the world that Kashmir is the capital of three major rivers vital for agriculture in Pakistan, making India's occupation a direct threat to Pakistan's water security. “It is the artery of Pakistan and three rivers that provide us with water spring from it.”

They also recalled that Kashmir and Palestine are issues of concern to the entire Muslim Ummah and we must attach great importance to their highlighting on every forum. The seminar was arranged under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President of the University which was attended by a large number of intellectuals belonging to different walks of life. The YFK–International Kashmir Lobby Group (Youth Forum for Kashmir) co-hosted the seminar that was regarding Kashmir conflict. The president and heads of academic department, journalists and media representatives of some NGOs and a large number of universities also took part in the seminar.

Dr. Junaid Ahmed, one of the prominent scholars in the Kashmir conflict, delivered his comprehensive speech in which he reviewed the history of the Kashmir region from the independence of Pakistan to the present day. He gave a brief overview of the efforts and sacrifices made by the people of Kashmir to defend their homeland, and summed up the grievances suffered by the Kashmiri people, as well as the Pakistani government and all parties concerned to play their role in supporting the Kashmir conflict and presented to the world in its correct form, and seek a desired solution to this issue in accordance with the wishes of the people of Kashmir, and asked the students to provide their skills and expertise in order to support their brothers and raise awareness about this issue in the real image so that the world knows about what is going through the Kashmiri people of grievances and sacrifices and violations of human rights.

The President of the University said that the Kashmir and Palestine are issues of concern to the entire Muslim Ummah, and we must attach great importance. “We must keep reminding our children the importance of the issues so as not to discuss with the limitation, and we must be one hand and one body with our brothers to defend them, because the defense of our issues and sanctities and our religion and our property is a must and cannot bargain this good land.”

He said that Kashmir is considered a vital area for Pakistan’s security because of two main roads and a railway network, and because Kashmir is the capital of three major rivers of agriculture in Pakistan, making India's occupation a direct threat to Pakistan's water security. It is the artery of Pakistan and three rivers that provide us with water spring from it.

Dr. Muhammad Khan, Professor of Politics and International Relations, spoke about the Kashmir issue and its importance to Pakistan and praised the role of the Pakistani forces in resolving the conflict according to the wishes of its inhabitants.
