‘Army has done its job, admin must sustain it’

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday termed rehabilitation of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) and economic uplift of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) priority of the government.

He was addressing the representatives of people and notables of Fata in Miranshah after inaugurating the newly-constructed Miranshah Market Complex by the Pakistan Army Engineers. Prime Minister Shahid Abbasi and Chief of the Amy Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Miranshah and Ghulam Khan areas of North Waziristan Agency.

On arrival at Miranshah, the prime minister laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument and offered Fateha for the Shuhada of Pakistan who rendered supreme sacrifices for restoration of peace and stability. The Market Complex includes 1,344 shops, parks, car parking, solar lights, driveways and water supply network.

He also inaugurated the Ghulam Khan Trade Terminal, North Waziristan Agency, as part of Central Trade Corridor. He said the Pakistan Army’s services and sacrifices were unparalleled and the whole world had acknowledged them.

He said the Pakistan Army had done its job and now it was the area administration and political agents’ responsibility to maintain discipline, peace and harmony in the area. Abbasi lauded the brave tribesmen for their unwavering support in the fight against terrorism and clearing these areas of terrorists. He reminded that peace in tribal areas was pre-requisite for peace in Pakistan. “These socio-economic projects are just the beginning and many more such projects are in the pipeline for Fata in addition to the ones which have been completed or are in progress across Fata. Rehabilitation of TDPs and economic uplift of Fata is a priority objective of the government,” he added.

The prime minister lauded the brave tribesmen for their unwavering support in the fight against terrorism and ridding these areas of terrorists. He said mainstreaming of Fata was key to its long-term progress and prosperity for which the government was working in line with the aspirations of the people of Fata.

The prime minister also inaugurated the Ghulam Khan Trade Terminal in North Waziristan Agency as part of the Central Trade Corridor. These newly-constructed trade terminals and communication infrastructure in tribal areas will connect this market complex with CPEC in Dera Ismail Khan and will have its share in national and regional trade routes and commercial dividends awaiting a new chapter of prosperity and economical uplift of the area. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, ministers, senators and corps commander Peshawar were also present during the visit.
