‘Concerted efforts stressed to spread Islam’s message’
Islamabad : We should make concerted efforts to spread the message of Islam world over through love and respect, said Dr. Sayed Moustafa Al Qazwini, founding Imam of the Islamic Educational Centre of Orange County and President of the Muslim Council of Southern California, USA.
"Islam is a religion that propagates love, peace, respect and tolerance, and every possible endeavour must be made by us as Muslims to project this true image of Islam across the globe," he said during a special lecture on interfaith harmony at the Preston University here.
Educationists, intellectuals, scholars, diplomats and senior faculty and students of Preston University participated in the event.
Prominent among the speakers were scholar Agha Ali Yahya, cultural attaché at the US Embassy Maureen Mimnaugh and Chairman of the Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan Dr. Ghazanfer Mehdi.
Dr Al Qazwini said Islam was a religion of peace and brotherhood and was indispensable for the creation of harmony among different religions and sects of the world.
He said Pakistan was one of the most beautiful countries of the world.
"People of this part of the globe are very able and industrious and are endowed with abundant natural resources," he said.
He said it was extremely important that sincere endeavours are made to create harmony among different sects and religion in the country if peace was to be established and people were to be provided with the opportunity to reap the benefits of economic progress and prosperity.
Dr Al Qazwini said in the US, the people belonging to all religions of the world lived and that they're incessantly engaged in interacting with each other and making honest efforts to better appreciate each other’s religion and culture.
"This is what has made the American society a tolerable society, where people live in harmony and respect each other regardless of caste, creed and religion," he said.
In his vote of thanks Prof. Dr. Allah Wadhayo Baloch, Registrar Preston University thanked the distinguished guest speaker for his enlightening and thought provoking lecture on interfaith harmony. Later, he presented shields of the university to Dr Al Qazwini and other speakers.
