Red-zone dwellers optimistic of getting plots in New Balakot City
MANSEHRA: The people living in prefabricated shelters in the Balakot red-zone have expressed optimism that following the suo moto notice taken by chief justice of Pakistan they could now get plots in New Balakot City housing project.
"We appreciate Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, who has taken suo moto notice in embezzlement of $5 billion financial assistance donated by international community for rehabilitation of survivors of 2005 earthquake," Mohammad Safdar Awan, the councillor told a meeting held in Balakot on Sunday.
The meeting, which was attended by survivors settled in red-zone since devastating earthquake hit Balakot in 2005 earthquake, unanimously adopted a resolution demanding CJP to ensure allotment of plots to them at New Balakot city housing project without any further delay.
Awan said that though Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority had started allotting plots to survivor families in papers but that mega housing project of Rs12 billion couldn't be completed as yet.
Basharat Hussain said that government should continue not only allotting plots to survivors families but also ensure the rapid development of New Balakot City housing project so that construction of houses could be started without any further delay.
