KARACHI: Quite a few fancied teams have been eliminated in the 19th National Seniors Cup Cricket Tournament 2017-18 which reached the knockout phase in both the regions.
According to the information made available by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) here on Friday, tougher competition is being witnessed this season, reflected by the qualification of new teams ahead of former champions Omar Associates, Karachi, and Amar Cables, Lahore. Golden Cables and Turk Plasts have also crashed in the Northern Zone.
A total of 103 outfits from 50 cities, divided in 31 groups, had entered the league rounds of the annual event which generated enormous interest in every nook and corner of the country during the last few months.
At the end of the league matches, Multan Whites, Chaudhary Sports, Multan Gladiators, Okara Seniors, Sialkot Giants, Wah Karigar, Sialkot Seniors and Wah Power have entered the knockout phase of the Northern region tourney.
In the regional quarter-finals, Multan Whites will take on Chaudhary Sports, Multan Gladiators will be up against Okara Seniors, Sialkot Giants will lock horns with Wah Karigar and Sialkot Seniors will be pitted against Wah Power.
The northern region champions will be taking on the southern zone champions in the national final to be held in Karachi on April 22. The tournament is being sponsored by Omar Associates (Pvt) Ltd with Naya Nazimabad being the co-sponsors.
