PEC announces class 5, 8 results
LAHORE : Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) on Saturday announced the results of Class-5 and Class-8 Annual Examinations 2018 with pass percentage of 86.58 in grade-5 and 86.62 in grade-8 exams.
Over 2.5 million candidates had appeared in the two exams from across 36 districts of the province—over 1.5 million in grade-5 and over one million in grade-8.
None of the student from Lahore was able to secure top three positions in grade-5.
The overall first position in grade-5 exam was shared by Zainab Iqbal of Faisalabad and Muhammad Haseeb of Toba Tek Singh with 494 marks each. The second position was also shared by two students while the third position was shared by as many as six students.
Similarly, the overall first position in grade-8 was shared by Ghulam Mujtaba Khalid of Bahawalpur and Rija Batool of Vehari with 496 marks each. The second position was bagged by Muhammad Atta ur Rehman of Vehari with 495 marks while the third position was shared by six students, including one from Lahore. Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) which had successfully completed online registration of over 2.5 million students for class 5 and 8 using in-house built Exam Management System successfully published the results online.
The result was published on servers hosted on secure and reliable Tier-III Data Centre located at Arfa Software Technology Park. The centre is equipped with latest technology infrastructure for sophisticated and powerful computing. The centre guarantees 24/7 availability and the uptime of services to 99.998 percent.
Announcing Punjab Examination Commission results is one of the most critical activities that PITB undertakes each year. The amount of load that comes on servers, database and network is immeasurable.
“The success of this activity validates the competence and expertise of PITB network and development teams. In just 3.5 hours more than 10 million requests were handled without any delay or errors,” said a PITB official.
