Corruption by all
As we celebrate the 78th anniversary of the Lahore Resolution with such grandeur and fervour, we must not forget to reflect over the manner in which this country has been allowed to be robbed by a handful of people. The irony is that while all of this was going on, everybody responsible for preventing such irregularities from happening was party to the heist. Today every irregularity and violation of law has been regularised in this country through the doctrine of necessity and fait accompli.
Nothing came of the much touted economic reforms of 1992. In fact, every government and the paid civil and uniformed bureaucracy who held office during this period is party to this ongoing daylight robbery. A state that fails to secure its assets and the future of its citizens is a state destined to collapse, unless it stands up to the bullies.
