PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak visited the Peshawar Zoo and inspected its various sections on Tuesday.
A handout said the chief minister also issued on the spot directives to the administration for continuing the process of improvement in the zoo.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel, Minister Law Imtiaz Shahid Querashi and Chairman DDAC, Peshawar, Arbab Jehandad Khan, also accompanied him on the occasion.
Pervez Khattak along with his cabinet members visited the Zoo in the same vehicle without any protocol. The chief minister said he visited the zoo after public complaints about health, hygiene, canteen food quality and beautification issues.
He directed to ensure high standards of food stuff and hygiene in all canteens otherwise contracts of canteen holders would be cancelled on compromising the quality. The chief minister, however, said responsibility to look after and arrange food for the wildlife rested with the contractors concerned for one month after its arrival in the zoo.
