PESHAWAR: The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has formed Regional Standing Committee for Culture and Heritage.
The committee held its first meeting of the regional standing committee on Tuesday here at FPCCI regional office with Mohammad Israr Madani in the chair. The importance of raising awareness about the invaluable ancient centres of civilisation like Peshawar, Mardan, Takht Bhai and Swat on global forums was highlighted at the meeting.
Senior experts in archaeological and cultural fields, who are members of the committee, emphasised the urgent need of preservation techniques by global archaeological organisations equipped with state-of-the art and sophisticated skills and tools. The meeting was informed that conducting regular seminars and conferences to increase awareness about cultural values and to develop liaison with international organisations and UNESCO for collaboration and cooperation in the relevant fields will be held. Israr Madani underscored the role of culture in the promotion of peace and prosperity in the region and the world. He added that the cultural heritage was an inheritance of the entire humanity.
