ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that he would not let another Quddus Bizenjo be elected as a prime minister in the general elections 2018. “I would resist any such efforts,” he also said.

Talking exclusively to this correspondent at the Accountability Court, the former prime minister said all parties included in the IJI contested open elections and they did not hide themselves behind someone else. Commenting about the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, Nawaz said that he has abandoned the youth and the people who associated hopes with him. Now he shakes hands with Asif Ali Zardari leaving aside his tall claims that it would ruin his 20 years’ hard work if he ever shakes hand with Zardari. On what sort of pressure is being exerted on the politicians, Nawaz said that there is no pressure.

Maryam Nawaz told The News that she still has not decided to contest the general elections 2018 and if her party decides to field her, she will do. When a discussion was going on between the prosecutions and defence that whether Wajid Zia is recording his statement as investigation officer or a prosecution witness, Maryam commented how one could say that captain of a cricket team is not a cricketer.

Nawaz Sharif while talking to the reporters said that he has been through many different types of experiences. Some were good and some bad and a man learns from these experiences, he said. If something is being done in favor of the country, it gives me happiness, he said.

To a question about his movement for justice (Tehreek-e-Adal), Nawaz said that it is in his party manifesto. “None or delayed provision of justice is a major crisis. If we win the 2018 general elections, we will introduce comprehensive judicial system which is desperately needed in the country. When I became the prime minister in 2013, my government took steps for the betterment of judicial system but I don’t want to discuss that here.”

About Aitzaz Ahsan’s statement that if he names those who are conspiring against

him, they will stand with him, Nawaz Sharif, “Do you think they will stand with me!” Regarding a question about the accusation of Pakhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai who even named official of an institution in connection with change of government in Baluchistan, Nawaz said there is a dire need to investigate this allegation.

Commenting about his corruption references, Nawaz said that unlike other politicians, there is no case of corruption or kickbacks from a government contract. It is instead a case pertaining to 1974 that how my father established a factory in Dubai, he said. Talking about the newly elected Chairman Senate, Nawaz said that who put Imran Khan and Bilawal together at Sanjrani House and how he got elected without any meritorious service for the country.

“Everybody was told to contact the ‘Sadiq’ of Sanjrani house,” he said. About civil-military conflicts, Nawaz Sharif said that he is not in favour of picking up fights but just want to see this country going in accordance with the law and the constitution. Nation is witness to whatever happened in the Senate elections, he said. Raza Rabbni and Raja Zafarul Haq were good candidates for the seat of Chairman Senate, he added.

Nawaz said that his party members are standing with him with utmost zeal. At the end, he rendered a melancholic verse of renowned poet Ghalib ‘Zindagi Kuch Iss Andazz Se Guzri Ghalib; Hum Bhi Kya Yaad Keren Gay Keh Khuda Rakh’tey Thay’
