PDA distributes saplings among Hayatabad residents
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) distributed saplings among residents of Hayatabad here Wednesday as part of its spring plantation campaign.
The saplings were distributed in Sector F-1 of Hayatabad Phase 6. Saplings of several different species of trees were handed over to residents to encourage them to plant these at their homes and open spaces.
Manzoor Yousaf, deputy director, Horticulture, PDA supervised the distribution of the saplings.
Some of the residents said it was the first time that the PDA had arranged free distribution of saplings. They said it would motivate the residents of Hayatabad to plant and take care of the saplings. Manzoor Yousaf said that the tree plantation drive is in full swing in all the parks of Hayatabad and on the roadsides. “I start preparing and planting saplings with my team whenever and wherever I see an empty spot. We intend to make Hayatabad and Peshawar greener,” he added.
There are 64 smaller and six bigger parks in Hayatabad. At the Shalman Park in Hayatabad Phase 6 on Wednesday, PDA Horticulture department workers planted saplings of different species of trees. Ornamental plants were also planted in a major bid to make the Shalman Park greener and beautiful.
