Drugs inspector orders syrup recall
Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory's drugs inspector has ordered the immediate recall of a medicinal syrup for carrying a controlled substance.
The development comes in line with the directives of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan. According to ICT Inspector of Drugs and focal person for pharmaco-vigilance Sardar Shabbir Ahmad, the Sancos Syrup's stability data has been found to be 'out of specifications'.
"As the product (syrup) contains a controlled drug, Pseudoephedrine, you are directed to immediately ensure the recall of all its stock available at drug sale outlets operating in the territorial jurisdiction of the Islamabad Capital Territory," the drugs inspector told the Novartis Pharma Pakistan Limited's distributor in a letter. He asked the distributor to submit a compliance report in this respect in two days.
