Doctor, dispenser booked for patient’s death

OKARA: A-Division police on Tuesday registered a case against a doctor and his dispensers on the charge of wrong medication, which claimed the life of a 13-year-old child.
During a demonstration outside the clinic of Dr Hafiz Liaqat Ali, Khalid Mughal told newsmen his son Sikandar Ali started vomiting on March 8. He said that he brought Sikandar to the clinic of Dr Liaqat Ali but he was not present. However, his dispensers gave some medicines and injections, which further worsened the child’s condition. In the meantime, the doctor examined the child and advised to shift him to the Sahiwal Civil Hospital. Khalid Mughal said that he shifted his son to the hospital but the doctors referred him to the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore due to his critical condition. When the ambulance reached the Jinnah Hospital, the child died. Khalid Mughal and his relatives were chanting slogans against the doctor and his dispensers. When contacted, the doctor denied the charge.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Okara chapter has called a meeting of the PMA members to finalise a strategy after the registration of a case against a doctor.
