Geo, The News, Jang report proves true: Imran, 66, confirms 3rd marriage
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has confirmed party chairman Imran Khan’s third marriage with Bushra Bibi, reports Geo News.
“Wishing Chairman PTI Imran Khan and his wife a happy married life. May Allah bless the couple,” read a tweet on PTI’s official Twitter on Sunday.
The party issued pictures of Imran’s Nikah with Bushra Bibi, in which close relatives of Bushra Bibi are seen.
Imran’s political secretary Awn Chaudhry can also be seen in the images.
Following Nikah, 66-year-old Imran Khan, has reportedly been on his way to Islamabad alone.
Senior correspondent with The News Umar Cheema broke the story of Imran Khan’s third marriage in January this year, but the party denied the report at the time.
However, the party had later confirmed that Imran proposed marriage to a woman named Bushra Bibi.
Speaking to Geo News, Cheema said he still stands by his story that the Nikah was solemnised on January 1. He said the ones he had named in his story also featured in the pictures issued by the PTI on Sunday.
Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhry congratulated the PTI chairman over his third marriage, but pointed out that he should not have lied by rejecting The News report, which said that he had tied the knot on Jan 1.
“Marriage is a Sunnat-e-Nabwi. What was the point of lying about it? One should know what they are supposed to do at their age,” he said.
Taking a jibe at the PTI leader, Talal said that while Nawaz Sharif was destined to become prime minister for fourth time, Imran’s fate was to get married for the third time.
“I hope this time his marriage remains successful,” he added.
Felicitations began pouring in by PTI leaders soon after the news of party chief’s marriage flashed on media.
PTI leader Jahangir Tareen tweeted: “Khan Sahib, shaadi mubarak ho bohat. I hope & pray that Allah keeps both of you happy for the rest of your lives. Stay blessed.”
Fawas Chaudhry tweeted: “Marriage is the combination of two hearts and two souls, which join each other on this special day of your wedding. Wishing you two a very happy and blessed married life!”
Shireen Mazari tweeted: “Congratulations to IK on his Nikah with Bushra today. May he find happiness in his personal life. Wish him the best.”
Aun Chaudhry tweeted: “I congratulate my leader and pray for his happiness on this new journey of his life!”
Faizan Bangash adds: Bushra Bibi is former wife of Khawar Manika, a bureaucrat.
Nikah of Imran Khan and Bushra was held at the residence of Bushra’s brother in DHA, attended by close relatives of the bride and Imran’s friends. Nikah sermon and ‘Dua’ were performed by Mufti Saeed, who is also the member of PTI Core Committee. From Imran’s side, guests included his personal secretary Aun Chaudhry and Zulfi Chaudhry, who is also a former Town Nazim and close relative of Abdul Aleem Khan. Imran Khan ‘s sisters and nephews didn’t turn up to the event.
