ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) says former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is the true owner of all of his assets despite them being in the name of his children. The NAB has directly declared Nawaz Sharif an accused in the supplementary references. According to a private TV channel, this has been stated in the supplementary references filed by the NAB in the Al Azizia and Flagship references. It is stated in the supplementary references that Nawaz is the primary accused in the cases. Moreover, it states that the NAB conducted an investigation into Nawaz’s assets and even went to London in this regard.
The supplementary references add that Nawaz Sharif failed to prove his innocence and when asked to appear before the bureau he chose not to.
Referring to the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT), the supplementary references mention that the JIT report has enough evidence to take the proceedings further.
On Wednesday, the NAB filed supplementary references in Al Azizia and Flagship references with the accountability court hearing corruption cases against Nawaz and his family.
Nawaz’s sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz are accused in the two references.
Eight new witnesses in each reference as well as new evidence, including details of offshore companies of Hassan and Hussain, are part of the supplementary references.
