KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has granted Rs7 million for Petroleum Engineering (PE) Chair at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro.
PPL MD and CEO Syed Wamiq Bokhari handed over the cheque to MUET Institute of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (IPNGE) Director Abdul Haque Tunio and PPL Chair at MUET Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed Jokhio, a statement said on Wednesday. The company has committed nearly Rs50 million over the next five years for the PE Chair, it was revealed at the ceremony at PPL head office in the presence of officials from both organisations. Wamiq Bokhari said, “As a leading national exploration and production company, PPL remains committed to strengthening academia-industry partnership for nurturing young talent informed with latest research and technology.”
The Petroleum Engineering Chair became functional recently with a full-time professor on board. It aims to develop and implement research-based infrastructure at IPNGE in line with international standards, including integrated graduate and postgraduate curricula. The department would also focus on active collaboration with reputed industry partners.
