BLA, MQM-L men among 19 held by Rangers

The Sindh Rangers on Friday arrested 19 suspects, including alleged target killers, during different raids in the city. A spokesman for the paramilitary force said raids were carried out in Bahadurabad and Gulberg during which three suspects, namely Mohammed Ismail alias Fauji, Mohammed Zubair alias Maama and Mohammed Murad, were arrested. Of the three, Zubair and Ismail were said to be associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London, while Murad is an activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi.

The suspects were involved in target killings, armed robberies, street crimes, land grabbing and other crimes, said the spokesman.

During raids in Mithadar, Kalri and Kharadar, the paramilitary force rounded up five Lyari gang war suspects, namely Mohammed Shafiq alias Papi, Faizan alias Faiz, Zubair alias Topa, Mohammed Israr Khan and Husnain Ali alias Maabh. Of them, Husnain Ali was said to be involved in a grenade attack on January 18 this year in Kharadar, while the rest were involved in extortion, anti-state activities such as scrawling graffiti on walls, illegal trade of weapons and street crimes, the spokesman added. Another arrested suspect, Naveed Baloch, was said to be affiliated with the Baloch Liberation Army.

The Rangers also carried out raids and snap checking in Malir City, Gizri, and Bahadurabad areas during which six suspects were arrested. They were identified as Sabir Jaan, Tariq Hussain alias Kala, Faizan and Faiz Mohammed alias Faizo, Abdul Aziz and Yousuf, and accused of involvement in robberies and street crimes.

Separately, four drug dealers were arrested in the Docks and Gulberg areas. They were identified as Naveed Ahmed alias Langra, Hussain Ali Khan alias Lalu, Akhtar Zaman alias Akhtar Plumber and Mohammed Ahmed alias Khushka. All arrested suspects were later handed over to the police for legal proceedings.
