NAPIER, New Zealand: Just two days before their crunch Pool B game against South Africa, Pakistan have received an injury scare when pace spearhead Mohammad Irfan limped out of the stadium during Wednesday’s World Cup game against UAE.
But coach Waqar Younis played down fears declaring that the left-armer will retain full match fitness ahead of Saturday’s game against the Proteas in Auckland.
“Irfan has an injured glute. This is not a new problem as he has had it before. But it’s nothing serious and we are sure that he will be fit to play the next game.”
Irfan was the reason why Pakistan prevailed over Zimbabwe by 20 runs in Brisbane last Sunday and he is likely to be Pakistan’s chief weapon against dangerous South Africa on Saturday.
