Zainab murder case: People won’t forgive Shahbaz for failure to arrest culprits, says Khursheed
KASUR: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly and PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah has alleged that the Punjab government has arrested several innocent people in connection with Zainab's murder just for paperwork, which is regrettable.
Talking to media along with Zainab's father here on Tuesday, Khursheed said the Punjab government seemed helpless and vulnerable over the Kasur incident. He said the people will not forgive Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his failure to arrest the culprits involved in the murder of seven-year-old Zainab. "It is the duty of the government to safeguard the life and property of the people. He said though such regrettable incidents occur across the globe, but the governments tackle the situation accordingly. The question "Why was Zainab killed" is important then "Why I was evicted" said Shah.
The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly said the government is responsible to protect the life and property of people but unfortunately the authorities fired at those protesting over the brutal murder and molestation of the minor. "They murdered two people and injured several others," he maintained. Shah asserted that the people protesting against the murder and rape of Zainab were put behind bars as if they were criminals. Khurshid said people involved in such cases are ruthless killers who must be arrested immediately and awarded exemplary punishment. He said it is unfortunate that Zainab case was also discussed in the British parliament.
He said had the government acted with sincerity against other similar incidents in Kasur, this tragedy would not have happened. "At least 11 such incidents took place in Kasur but no attention was paid to them by the Punjab government as if it was not their priority. Criticizing the Punjab police, he said they have failed the people and the state. "Nothing productive will come out of the transfer of SP. Innocent have been arrested in the Zainab murder case, he said.
