SBP governor pays maiden visit to Russia, signs MoU

ISLAMABAD: Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Tariq Bajwa has paid visit to Russia, first time by any governor of the country’s central bank since independence in last 70 years. During his visit both sides signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for exploring cooperation in areas of establishing banking channels for boosting trade and economic ties. Official sources confirmed to The News on Monday night that Tariq Bajwa being first governor of the central bank in last 70 years paid visit to Russia for exploring options to enhance cooperation for payment through banking channels and both the countries agreed to enhance mutual cooperation in months and years ahead.
