LAHORE: Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that digital technology has greatly helped education reforms in the province.
He said this while inaugurating “NexGen” initiative at Govt Shuhada-e-APS Girls High, Model Town here Monday. He said in the first phase the Punjab government would establish 300 NexGen schools across the province in collaboration with United We Reach (UWR) and added the Govt Shuhada-e-APS School, Model Town was the first school.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana Mashhood said providing technical and vocational education was pivotal and added the NexGen initiative would lay the foundations for a technical and innovative Punjab.
Under the NexGen initiative, a well-equipped IT lab, science lab, health lab and Early Childhood Education (ECE) classroom have been established at the school. The minister said so far 11,000 ECE classrooms had been established across the province under the ECE initiative and added the ECE initiative had been a great success because as it ensured 100 percent retention and zero dropouts.
He said the NexGen initiative would provide quality education to students. Secretary Schools Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik said so far 8,000 IT labs had been established in public schools of the province while 1,109 schools were offering technical and vocational training.
