NAB for strict action against illegal housing societies
Islamabad: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), as part of its special initiative, has nabbed 15 corrupt proclaimed offenders (POs) during last three months.
National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, besides issuing directions to arrest corrupt elements, also ordered arrest of POs to curb corruption, a statement Friday said.
He directed Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to submit details of private housing societies in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, besides uploading details on their websites and get it published in various newspapers.
The chairman also directed RDA, CDA, and ICT to explain how illegal societies came into existence and how No Objection Certificates and layout plan were issued to those societies without following proper rules and regulations. Justice (r) Javed Iqbal said due to negligence by departments concerned, the corrupt elements collected hard earned money from people and in return no plots were allotted to them.
He directed a complete report in this regard should be presented to NAB so that the bureau could ensure bringing back money to people by taking strict action against corrupt and criminal elements under law.
He said he took notice of illegal activities of private and cooperative housing societies and helped returning millions of rupees to people during last three months. He also sought a report within two months on alleged monetary corruption in Pakistan Sports Board, Pakistan Cricket Board and Pakistan Hockey Federation.
He also directed probe in light of public complaints and audit reports regarding misuse of public resources in these departments. Javed Iqbal said after taking over charge as chairman he ensured implementation of ‘Accountability for All’ with zero tolerance.
