Master Paints/EFU Insurance advance

LAHORE: Master Paints/EFU Insurance edged past Diamond Paints by 6-4 in the Royal Marketing Pakistan Polo Cup 2018 match played here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Tuesday.

It was a show of Taimur Mawaz Khan and Hamza Mawaz Khan, father and son, who both displayed superb polo skills and hammered a hat-trick each to guide Master Paints/Efu Insurance an impressive 6-4 triumph. On the other hand, Eulogio Celestino scored a brace for the losing side while Mir Huzaifa Ahmed and Omar Asjad Malhi contributed one goal apiece, but their efforts couldn’t bear fruit for their team.

Eulogio Celestino opened the scoring for Diamond Paints off 60-yard penalty hit which was followed by an equalizer from Taimur Mawaz Khan, who struck a field goal. After that, Diamond Paints thwarted two tremendous goals – one each by Omar Malhi and Eulogio - to take healthy 3-1 lead.

Hamza Mawaz turned out to be a star of the second chukker as he displayed superb pony and mallot work to change the entire game for Master Paints by hammering three goals in a row to give 4-3 lead, which was further enhanced by his father Taimur Mawaz to finish the chukker with Master Paints enjoying 5-3 lead.

The third chukker proved to be a goalless while the fourth and fifth chukker was evenly poised as Taimur Mawaz added another goal in Master Paints’ total making it 6-3 while in the dying moments of the match, Mir Huzaifa converted one to reduce the margin to 6-4. Ahmed Nawaz Tiwana and Ahmed Ali Tiwana supervised the match as field umpires. Today (Wednesday), Olympia Chemical will take on ZTBL at 3:00pm.
