Nine die in van-trailer collision

BUREWALA: Nine passengers, including two women and two children, were killed and 20 others sustained injuries in a van-trailer collision near Adda Lando Masjid on the Chichawatni Road on Monday.

A van was going to Chichawatni from Burewala when its axle suddenly broke and it collided with a trailer coming from the opposite direction. As a result, nine passengers, including the van driver Ayaz of Chak 5/WB, Vehari, Mumtaz of Sangla Hill, Ghulam Qadir, Sakeena Bibi, Iman Fatima and her sister Natasha and Muhammad Javed of Chak 107/WB, were killed on the spot while 20 others, including Naila, Rafiq, Sahiban Bibi, Ali, Ibtesam, Nasreen, Rasheeda, Khalid Riaz, Shaukat Ali, Muhammad Junaid, Minahil, Mumtaz, Rashida, Shahid, Tanveer, Muhammad Hanif, Mubeen, Jabbar and Sadia, sustained injuries. The driver of the trailer fled after the accident. Rescue-1122 staff shifted the injured to the THQ Hospital. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
