CPEC has opened doors to secure foreign investment: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the foundations of a prosperous and developed Pakistan have been laid as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project (CPEC) has opened the doors of secure foreign investment in the country.

While talking to different delegations of Pakistan Muslim League-N in Saudi Arabia, the chief minister said that CPEC was a game-changer initiative in the real sense at the global level. The revolution of economic development is knocking at our doors and many more employment opportunities are being created for lakhs of skilled persons in the country. The friendly countries are jubilant while the enemy is unnerved by the CPEC project.

He said that overcoming load-shedding in the year 2017 was an important achievement of the PML-N government as it has steered the country out of the crises inherited by it from the past rulers.

The mega projects of public welfare which have been set up in Punjab and other parts of the country are a clear proof of public-friendly policies of the government. He said the era of politics of personal interests was over and now we would have to think only for the public welfare and national development.

He said that there was no example of the development projects in the history of the country, which had been completed during the last four years with utmost transparency, quality and speed.

National as well as international bodies have acknowledged the policy of maintaining transparency at different occasions. He said that development of less-developed areas had been given particular importance to ensure composite development.

The Orange Line Metro Train would prove as the best transport project in the history of the country to benefit lakhs of people everyday. Lakhs of citizens of Multan, Lahore and Rawalpindi-Islamabad were fully benefiting from the wonderful metro bus service in their cities.

Shahbaz Sharif also felicitated Ghazanfar Bilour, the newly elected president and other office-bearers of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). In his message, he hoped that the newly-elected body would play its role in safeguarding professional interests of the trading community and strengthening of the national economy.

Also, the chief minister condemned the Mall Road blasts in Chaman city of Balochistan. He prayed for early recovery of the injured security officials and other persons. He also expressed a deep sense of grief over the death of mother of senior journalist Qazi Nadeem Iqbal in a condolence message.

Shahbaz Sharif also took notice of the death of a police official in car run-over incident in Defence A area of Lahore and sought a report from the CCPO Lahore. He directed that justice should be ensured and legal action be initiated against the person responsible for the accident.
