Qatar, NAVTTC agree on vocational training cooperation

Islamabad: The Qatari government and National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) on Thursday agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of technical and vocational training.

The agreement came during a meeting between Qatari ambassador Saqar Bin Mubarik and NAVTTC executive director Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema here.

The NAVTTC executive director briefed the Qatari ambassador regarding the progress of TVET sector in the country and said the focus of the government in recent years had been on the improvement of quality of training in TVET Sector.

He said the standards of technical education had been brought on par with the international standards and Pakistani skilled workforce could cater to the needs of any country.

The ambassador of Qatar appreciated the efforts of transforming the skill development sector of Pakistan on modern lines. He said Qatar would require more than one hundred thousand Pakistani skilled workers for development and construction work being initiated due to FIFA Football World Cup 2022 to be held in Qatar.

The ambassador said Qatar’s government desired that the maximum workforce required in this regard should come from Pakistan. While praising the Pakistani skilled workers he further added that that labour from Pakistan is very hardworking and has played a pivotal role in completion of many development related projects in Qatar in the past.

"We will continue cooperation with NAVTTC look for opportunity of continuous provision of skilled manpower from Pakistan to Qatar," he said.

In the end, NAVTTC executive director Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema thanked the ambassador and assured him that Pakistan would continue its efforts to provide skilled workforce for all the required sectors in Qatar.
