Police service centres to operate in 15 days

LAHORE : Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Arif Nawaz Khan has said that police service centres should be completed as early as possible so that people could benefit from them for the facilities of police character certificate, driving licence, FIR copy, receipt of rented buildings and other many issues under one roof.

He expressed these views while addressing video-link RPO and DPO conference held at CPO on Saturday.

The IG said that police should conduct search operations and intelligence-based operations in all districts on a daily basis to arrest terrorists and anti-social elements. He stressed that the circle officer concerned should look after the operations. He said the projects of information technology Front Desk, Hotel Eye and Welfare Eye should be focused and the DPOs should asses the measures with respect to the projects.

The IG was informed that many under-construction police service centres were providing services to public and the rest would be functional within 15 days.

The IG also analysed the crime rate in different districts and directed the officers to arrest proclaimed offenders of A category. He said that special teams comprising police commandos equipped with sophisticated weapons, bulletproof jackets and safety helmets should raid the hideouts of the criminals in accordance with the set SOPs. He directed all the DPOs to pay attention to the security of educational institutions, worship places, mosques, markets, banks and churches. He directed them to devise a comprehensive security plan in connection with Christmas. He also stressed on speedy crackdown on professional criminals.

The IG warned that police torture in the name of investigation would not be tolerated. He said that the problems of people who come to Front Desks should be resolved as soon as possible.

Punjab DIG Operations Amir Zulfiqar, Additional IG Training Tariq Masood, Additional IG Establishment Azhar Hameed, SPU DIG Faisal Ali Rana and other officers were also present.
