ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Wednesday deferred Hudaibya Paper Mills case due to unavailability of one of three members of the special bench hearing the NAB appeal against the quashing of Hudaibya Paper Mills reference by the Lahore High Court.

Justice Mushir Alam, who heads the bench, after arriving in the courtroom said one member of the bench, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, could not hear the matter, as he had some emergency at home.

He said the case will be heard most probably on Friday subject to availability of Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel.

Justice Mushir asked the NAB Deputy Prosecutor Imranul Haq as to how much time he would take to conclude arguments.

Haq replied that he had almost completed arguments. Justice Mushir told the prosecutor that he still had to provide the court with the money trail and relevant documents.

“We are not deciding the matter on merit, as maybe the trial court would look into it, but you convince us on the issue of limitation,” Justice Mushir added.

The NAB deputy prosecutor, however, told the court that they had sufficient material in huge bundles about the money trail and the persons in the Bureau with expertise in corporate matters would be tasked with taking out relevant portions pertaining to the money trail.

The court, the other day, had repeatedly asked the deputy prosecutor to establish before it the criminal aspect and avoid telling stories of fictitious accounts in the name of certain people.
