The Japanese consul general in Karachi, Toshikazu Isomura, on Monday hosted a dinner to celebrate the 84th birthday of the Japanese emperor falling on December 23.
Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing and Town Planning Jam Khan Shoro was the chief guest. Parliamentarians, other dignitaries, the media and diplomats also attended. The consul general dwelt on the economic assistance Japan was rendering Pakistan and the bilateral ties in the social fields. He stressed his firm commitment to further promoting economic ties and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
The Sindh minister congratulated Emperor Akihito on his birthday and wished him the best of health and happiness. Shoro emphasised the cordial ties between the two countries and expressed gratitude for Japan’s assistance in the economic, cultural and social fields. He hoped that these ties would grow further. The venue of the dinner was most profusely decorated. Apart from other decorations, Ikebana groups showcased exquisite flower arrangements.
