ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Sunday ordered resumption of transmission by all private news channels, a day after they were blocked across Pakistan.
The development ended concern and curiosity of the viewers to a great extent regarding the Faizabad sit-in and protests in other parts of Pakistan. Speculations were rife after all the private television channels went off the air Saturday afternoon.
The private news channels transmission was suspended Saturday after Pemra issued a notification prohibiting live
coverage of the operation to deal with Faizabad sit-in. However, on the direction by the government, Pemra announced Sunday that all news and current affairs satellite TV channels might immediately be restored.
The authority said that all distribution networks have been directed to restore these channels on their original positions immediately.
