Floral Art: A wonderful display of creativity

Islamabad: For its Annual General Meeting held each year in November, The Floral Art Society, Islamabad/Rawalpindi chapter organised a competition among its members wherein three themes were selected. The participants were required to complete their arrangements by noon and the three subjects given to them were: Monoghromatic Impact; Symphony of Textures and Craft Class (wind chimes) says a press release.
Lunch was served after the members had completed their exhibits and during this period judges went around to judge the display and compile the results.
The meeting started with the recitation from Holy Quran by Hina, followed by the Annual General report of all the yearly activities carried out by the club, presented by Secretary, Nasreen Mazhar.
According to the judges - who were from FAS Lahore, Anjum Rehman and Samia Sikander and Aisha Zahid from Islamabad chapter - said the show put up by members was par excellence - all the designs were innovative and very neatly executed, with great emphasis on technique, which reflected the interest and hard work each participant had put in and they had a difficult time in selecting the winners.
Later on the exhibition was open to the public and a sizable number of people came to attend, including the wives of ambassadors of Japan, Belgium and members of the Kazakistan embassy.
The winners from each category were:
Monochromatic Impact: 1. Amna Abbas; 2. Asma Ansari; 3.Faheema Yusuf.
Highly Commendable: Nageen Malik. Commendable: Nuzhat Saeed and Nilofer Rehman
Symphony of textures: 1 Sarwat Aslam; 2 Asma Ansari and 3 Nasreen Mazhar
Highly Commendable: Wiqarunnisa Boolani.
Commendable: Ghazala Abdullah and Farhat Zaman
Craft Class: 1 Hina Kamran 2 Ghazala Abdullah and 3 Samina Tariq
Highly Commendable: Wiqarunnisa Boolani. Commendable: Huma Ehsan and Asma Ansari.
Best in Show: Amna Abbass. Runner up Hina Kamran
Best use of Colour: Amna Abbass
Best use of foliage: Faheema Yusuf
New Concept: Nuzhat Saeed
The prizes were awarded by the wife of the ambassador of Belgium, Mookda Mairue and tokens of appreciation to the judges by wife of the ambassador of Japan, Reiko Kurai.
In conclusion, gifts were given to members whose birthdays fall in November by President of FASP Peshawar, Naveed Shabir and president FAS Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Ghazala Abdullah.
