BARA: A senior official of the Khyber Agency political administration on Thursday warned the peace committee members belonging to Bara tehsil against sending notices to the local people without consulting the officials.
Talking to reporters, Political Agent Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood said the tribespeople had lodged the complaint against the local peace committee members.
He said the political administration had some reservations over the activities of the peace committee members as many people had lodged complaints against them. “The peace committees send illegal notices to the people without consulting the administration, causing problems for the people,” he said.
He added that the delinquent peace body members would be removed from the committee, besides imposition of Rs50,000 fine.
The political administration, Khalid Mehmod said, had already dissolved the Sipah Peace Committee due to its illegal activities.
He said that the journalists belonging to Bara had suffered a lot due to militancy and assured to extend help in rebuilding the Bara Press Club. “The journalists should bury the hatchets and work for the rehabilitation of the affected areas,” he said, adding it is responsibility of the mediapersons to highlight the issues of the area.
He said the journalists should focus on the situation in the area and highlight the issues of the people. The PA said the tribal people had rendered matchless sacrifices against the militants and suffered losses in business and infrastructure.
